Atom bomb of fashion addresses the 1954 Castle Bravo hydrogen-bomb test at Bikini Atoll and the irradiation of the Japanese fishing boat Daigo Fukuryū Maru. The work contrasts the atoll’s pop-cultural afterlife—where the bikini swimsuit took its name and was hailed as the “atom bomb of fashion." The work reveals how seductive language disguises violence and environmental harm.
