Emerson Myers is a Canadian artist based in Osaka, Japan. His work combines richly tactile surfaces with carefully ordered underlying structures, creating works that can be appreciated for their beauty alone while quietly encoding deeper systems and ideas.

Before becoming an artist, Emerson worked in newspaper design, activism, carpentry, and education. He later earned an M.Ed. in Art Education from Boston University and an MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art, where he shifted from representational work toward concept-driven practice.

His work transforms complex social, political, and spatial systems into measured visual compositions. Whether examining Cold War nuclear policy or the hidden order of railway networks, he seeks to build beautiful objects whose conceptual armature remains present but never essential to their enjoyment.

Emerson teaches art with Kwansei Gakuin University and works from his self-built studio in Osaka.
