Suicide Pact

Fear and Powerlessness in the Nuclear Age

The desire to understand, control, and categorize the world traces back to fears formed in the 1980s. The artist recalls bomb shelters, air-raid drills, and “duck and cover.” That early sense of madness, and the inability to overcome powerlessness, became the engine for this series. It was meant to address the fears of another era, but the sabers continue to rattle.
